2013 Summer 7′s Schedule

Summer 7’s practices have begun and will be in Thousand Oaks on Monday & Thursday @ 6:30 PM at Oak Brook Neighborhood Park (From Camarillo exit right on Sunset Hills and turn right on Erbes Road). Tuesday’s practices will be in Camarillo at Woodcreek Park (From Thousand Oaks exit right on Santa Rosa Road and turn left on Woodcreek Rd). Summer practices consist mainly of touch rugby with some live drills the week of a tournament. All new and returning players are welcome to these practices!

6/15 or 6/22- Outlaws Banquet @ 4PM (Location and Date TBD)

7/13/13- Santa Barbara 7s

Hey everyone, due to the rain, the Conejo Parks and Rec have closed all the fields. Our game will be Tomorrow(saturday) at 1PM at Monte Vista Intermediate School, 888 Lantana Street, Camarillo, CA 93010. See you there!

We have a very busy next few weeks before the season begins. It is imperative that everyone show up at practice, and the next few Saturdays.

The calendar until the end of the year is as such:

Nov 27 and 29 — Practice TO Fields Rec Center (Preparation for Rugby Camp)

Saturday December 1^st – Outlaw Rugby Camp (more later)

Dec 4 and 6 — Practice TO Fields (Preparation for Santa Monica game)

Saturday December 8 – Game against Santa Monica Rugby D1(Webster Middle School WLA at 1PM TBC)

Dec 11 and 13 — Practice TO Fields (Preparation for Scott on the Rocks Turney)

Saturday Dec 15 — Scott on the Rocks Turney (San Bernardino – All day)

Dec 18 and 20 — Practice TO Fields (Preparation for 2013 Season)

About Rugby Camp:

Coach Richard, Jay, Luis, and Phillip have spent several hours putting together a program that will dictate VCRC’s game tactics for the 2013 D2 season. That’s why it is imperative that those planning on playing effectively within the team, attend. ALL SHOULD BE THERE! It will be a combination of classroom and pitch.

Location: Newbury Park High School, 456 N. Reino Road

Time: All need to meet by the football field at 8:50AM SHARP. We go till 4PM, followed by team-building (beer)

Bring: Running shows, rugby boots, mouth piece, 2 shirts (white and dark) water/Gatorade, and$5 (your own food is you have dietary limitations)

Pre-Season Practice Begins October 18th

After a nice long summer it is finally time for rugby to start back up again! The first practice will be Thursday Oct 18th 7:15 PM at the Thousand Oaks Community Center behind Thousand Oaks High School where we trained last year and continue on every Tuesday/Thursday same place same time. It is going to be our 2nd year in division 2 and we will not be satisfied with anything less than first place this year! See you all on the pitch!

Also, there will be touch on Tuesday Oct 16th at 7:30 at the Thousand Oaks Community Center for anyone who would like to get a run in.

Hope everyone had a great summer and that you are all looking forward to the upcoming season as much as I am. This year we are making some changes to the club that I am very excited about and would love everyone’s involvement and input at the AGM next Saturday. The AGM will take place at my house again this year (1116 Calle Margarita in TO) @ 5 PM. If you are new this is your opportunity to get to know more about your club and teammates. If you have been around then you can take this opportunity to give some input, step up and become an officer in the club, or just come hang out with your teammates and see what we have planned for the upcoming year. Please do your best to make this meeting!

Santa Barbara 7s Tournament

This Saturday, July 21st we will be attending the Santa Barbara Sevens Tournament, at Elings Park in Santa Barbara. We have two teams, a competitive team and a social team, so there will be PLENTY of playing time for everyone! The cost is $30 per player, so please bring that with you to the tournament – no cash no play! The first games will begin at 9:00am, so we will be meeting at 7:00am at Walnut Grove Park (where touch is held on Monday and Thursday off Greenmeadow in thousand oaks) for those that would like to carpool.
